Sacramento City Info
Sacramento is the capital of the State of California. It is located in California’s expansive Central Valley and is the seventh most populous city in California. The Sacramento region is served by freeways I-5, I-80, Hwy 50 and Hwy 99. No new freeways have been built since the mid 1970s, despite a near-doubling of population in the metropolitan area since that time. Some Sacramento neighborhoods, particularly the central downtown and midtown areas, are pedestrian friendly. Sacramento has undertaken to make all city facilities and sidewalks wheelchair accessible. In an effort to preserve its urban neighborhoods, Sacramento has constructed traffic-calming obstacles in several areas. Greater Sacramento has been noted as one of the five “most livable” regions in America, and the city was cited by Time magazine as America’s most integrated Sacramento is referred to by many nicknames. The most common names are Capital City and River City, after the Sacramento River and American River. The American River is a 5 mile-per-hour waterway for all power boats (including jet-ski and similar craft) and has become an international attraction for rafters and kayakers. A popular attraction, The Delta King, a paddlewheel steamboat, was refurbished and is now a hotel and restaurant. The oldest part of the town besides Sutter’s Fort is Old Sacramento, which consists of cobbled streets and some historic buildings, some from the 1860s. Buildings have been preserved, restored or reconstructed, and the district is now a substantial tourist attraction, with rides on steam-hauled historic trains and paddle steamers. There is a lot of character noted in this beautiful city. There are many theater venues in Sacramento, including the Sacramento Convention Center and the Memorial Auditorium. It is also the home of the Crocker Art Museum, which is the oldest public art museum west of the Mississippi River. There is never a dull moment for night life either.

Come discover the beautiful Sacramento and all it has to offer!

Syracuse City Info:
Syracuse is the heart of New York State and Upstate New York’s third largest city.

Syracuse was named after the original Syracuse, a city on the eastern coast of Sicily, Italy, with which it shares some similarities, including a formerly important salt industry and a neighboring town of Salina.

About 27 percent of Syracuse’s land area is covered by 890,000 trees – a higher percentage than in Albany, Rochester or Buffalo Syracuse’s main water source is Skaneateles Lake, one of the country’s cleanest lakes, located about 20 miles (30 km) southwest of the city. Incoming water is left unfiltered, and only a trivial amount of chlorine is added to prevent bacterial growth

Syracuse is known for its snowfall. Research has even shown that Syracuse is the snowiest large city in the world. Syracuse continually wins the Golden Snowball Award, among Upstate cities. The high snowfall is a result of the fact that the city receives both lake effect and nor’easter snow.

Syracuse has historically enjoyed a relatively diverse ethnic population, including sizable Italian-American, Polish-American and Irish-American communities. Currently the city has a growing Latino population

Although it features all the amenities of a major city – including one of the nation’s top symphonies, the first domed stadium to be built in the Northeast, and the only domed IMAX theater in New York State – Syracuse has a small-town feeling that makes tourists feel right at home. And Syracuse’s unique geography means that opportunities for fishing and boating, skiing and snowtubing, and golfing and tennis are just minutes from downtown.
