Columbus City Info:
Columbus is the capital of the U.S. State of Ohio.

Columbus earned its nickname “The Arch City” because of the dozens of metal (formerly wooden) arches that spanned High Street at the turn of the twentieth century.

Columbus also has a number of distinctive neighborhoods within the metro area. The Short North, situated north of downtown, is rich with art galleries, dining, pubs, and specialty shops. A number of large, beautiful Victorian homes are located nearby, and together they embrace Victorian Village. To the south is German Village, known for its quaint 19th century brick cottages, and holds the distinction as the largest privately funded historic district on the National Register of Historic Places. Franklinton gets its colorful nickname due to the fact that much of the land lies below the level of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and a floodwall is required to contain the rivers and protect the area from catastrophic floods.

Columbus is home to several world-class buildings, including the Greek-Revival State Capitol and the Peter Eisenman-designed Wexner Center and Columbus Convention Center.

Festivities in Columbus include the Ohio State Fair—one of the largest state fairs in the country—and the Columbus Arts Festival and the Jazz and Ribs Festival, both of which occur on the downtown waterfront. September, German Village throws an annual Oktoberfest celebration that features authentic German food, beer, music, and crafts.

Richmond is the capital in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Served by the Richmond International Airport located in nearby Sandston, it is seven miles southeast of Richmond.

Between 1963 and 1965, there was a huge, “downtown boom,” that led to the construction of more than 700 buildings in the city.

Recent renovations included the rebuilt James R

Other areas of the economy that have developed recently in the city include pharmaceuticals, insurance, advertising, biotechnology, education, tour

ism health services, or semi-conductors. In 2006, Forbes also named Richmond as the sixth best city in which to find employment among the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the nation.

The Region also boasts more than 400 years of history including the second successful English settlement, the site of Patrick Henry’s famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech and the former White House of the Confederacy.

Providence City Info:
Interstate Highway I-95 serves as a physical barrier between the city’s commercial core and neighborhoods such as Federal Hill and the West End.

Providence is served by T.F. Green Airport, a commercial airfield located in nearby Warwick. Due to overcrowding, T.F. Green is used as an alternative to Boston’s Logan International Airport.

Visitors will discover that Rhode Island has an abundance of Colonial and Victorian homes, estates reminiscent of the gilded age, public buildings, the nation’s first enclosed shopping mall, the first manufacturing plant in America, a delightful 17th century fishing village, the boyhood home of one of America’s finest colonial artists, and two houses of worship which represent the roots of religious freedom in America. Best of all, the state’s compact size makes it easy to travel from one historic site to the next — none is more than an hour from any other, and many are within walking distance of each other.
